Night Prayer 2nd November 2016

In peace I will both lie down and sleep;
for thou alone, O Lord, makest me dwell in safety. Psalm 4.8

Psalm 31:1-5

In thee, O Lord, do I seek refuge;
    let me never be put to shame;
    in thy righteousness deliver me!
Incline thy ear to me,
    rescue me speedily!
Be thou a rock of refuge for me,
    a strong fortress to save me!

Yea, thou art my rock and my fortress;
    for thy name’s sake lead me and guide me,
take me out of the net which is hidden for me,
    for thou art my refuge.
Into thy hand I commit my spirit;
    thou hast redeemed me, O Lord, faithful God.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Matthew 24:13, 14a

But he who endures to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, as a testimony to all nations.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who
trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.

The Collect

Everlasting God, our maker and redeemer, grant us with all the faithful departed, the sure benefits of thy Son’s saving passion and glorious resurrection, that, in the last day, when thou dost gather up all things in Christ, we may with them enjoy the fullness of thy promises; through Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord, who liveth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

The Song of Simeon (St. Luke 2.29-32)

Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace,
according to thy word;
for mine eyes have seen thy salvation
which thou hast prepared in the presence of all peoples,
a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
and for glory to thy people Israel.

Concluding Sentence

The Lord bless us and keep us:
The Lord make his face to shine upon us, and be gracious to us:
The Lord lift up his countenance upon us, and give us peace. Amen.
